I was in a this shop today, where most things are extremely cheap. As I was looking at the DVD’s I saw stacks upon stacks of the late 90′s MTV show Daria. I swear I nearly died. Last year, MTV replayed loads of episodes of Daria and I recorded nearly every one of them.
I think Daria is amazing, the character as AMAZING! I love Daria’s friend Jane, she’s an artist, has a strange shaped head and cool hair.
Another thing I love about Daria is the use of satire, Daria and Jane just constantly insult things, even if they’re apart of it. It’s just really funny. Daria’s sister is the complete opposite of her. She’s ‘popular’ and loves getting attention from boys in her high school.
I think, even though it’s a cartoon, it’s a marvelous representation of a teenage life.
Now, to watch about six hours of Daria!!!!
The other day, I went to see a preformance of Shakespeare’s Othello, I didn’t think it was great, but that’s beside the point. Recently I have been reading a lot of Shakespeare, at home and at school, and I don’t know, it’s weird but I feel like I’d be good friends with him…
I know teenagers are supposed to find Shakespeare really boring, but I really don’t. His plays are so intricately written and each character can stand by themselves and are so human. Even with the villians, you can feel close to after a while!
I really wish some one like Shakespeare or Thomas Hardy was still around, just so I could meet them and talk to them…
I’ve been thinking recently about flower shops. For ages I’ve wanted to get a job in a local flower shop as I really like flowers, but when you think about it flower shops are creepy.
There somewhat morbid places, all these beautiful plants are killed just as they reach the most beautiful period in their life. Their bodies are piled on top of each other in the shops. People stroll in to gaze at them and smell their already decomposing bodies.
I don’t know, but I think flower shops are a bit like funeral homes…
Today, I had one of my friends over, and we had a brilliant tie dying party! We each bought a few packets of different coloured dye and used them. We had so much fun!
All you need for a really fun tie dying party is:
- A few packets of dye.
- Rubber Bands.
- A REALLY great friend.
- Music. (We played a lot of The Cure)
Tie dying or just dying your clothes is great as it gives new life to your old clothes. I had a pair of these white dungarees that I only wore once of twice as I never really wear white so I dyed them this gorgeous purple colour, that you could just eat!
I love tie dying as there is so many ways that you can dye your clothes. Every swirl and circle looks so unique! I love the thought that I’m wearing something that I customised myself. I love it even more when someone asks me “Where did you get your top” and I get to say “I MADE IT MYSELF”.
When my clothes that I dyed are dry, I’ll take some pictures and up load them here!
A few weeks ago in my post “A List Of Things To Do Before School Starts”, I said that I wanted to frolic in the rain, and the other day I did it!
I was tidying my room when I looked outside and a few rain drops were falling from the clouds. It seemed like the rain would get heavier so I decided to go out. I threw on a pair of shorts and an old top and ran outside. The rain was warm and it quickly soaked through clothes. Summer rain has this distinctive smell to it, you could just drink it. I jumped all around my back garden. Then my mam came out to rescue the laundry that was hanging on the clothes line to dry. She seemed so confused as to why I was out in the rain. It was kind of funny trying to explain it…..
But I had a really fun time, and if you like rain, you should give it a go next time it rains!
I cannot stop listening to this cover of the Carpenters song. My interpretation of this song is that it’s about the writers love or near obsession with a person who they believed was in love with them but ended up abandoning the writer to pursue a music career.
The song just has ithis haunting sound to it. You can feel the writers emptiness as its sung.
I’m going to start doing a post every month about the shows that I’m watching and what I think of them!
This month, I’ve become slightly obsessed with the show “My So-Called Life.” The show was first aired in 1994, and I swear the themes and people in it are so relatable and brilliant! The show mostly follows a teenager named Angela as she goes through life in high school and at home. The show also follows the stories of a few of Angela’s friends, some of who are priceless.
My favourite characters are Rayanne and Ricky, both of who are Angela best friends! I love Rayanne’s style and her rebellious attitude. AND her hair, it’s so long and full of volume, and she always has it styled in great ways! Ricky, Ricky, Ricky what can I say besides how marvellous he is. I mean besides he original sense of style, he is such a strong character as he has to go through a lot in school and home but he is also so funny and has brilliant one liners.
In the show, there is also glimpses into the life of Angela parents, which is actually really entertaining! You get to see what the parents views are on things Angela does and her friends. It interesting also when you see Angela parents stressing out over something to do with work or their relationship and Angela wouldn’t realise what it is that their tense about.
The show is just a really good portrayal of everyday life! I really really like this show, if you haven’t already watched it, you should definitely give it a go!
